Mooresville-based Lowe’s has named former Neiman Marcus executive Michael West its new executive vice president of supply chain field operations, a position responsible for overseeing the system that helps online orders reach customers quickly and efficiently.

In a statement Wednesday, the home improvement retailer said West assumes his new role Sept. 25, and that he will report to the company’s chief supply chain officer, Brent Kirby.

West will be responsible for overseeing Lowe’s distribution centers and millwork facilities, with a goal of “driving increased efficiency and flexibility to best meet the needs of customers,” Lowe’s said.

As more customers shop online, Lowe’s has been working to optimize its supply chain operations, from building local central delivery terminals to cut down on delivery times to experimenting with product pick-up lockers at a Charlotte store.

At Neiman Marcus, West led distribution, transportation and fulfillment for all of the department store chain’s brands. West has also held various executive leadership roles at Ann, Inc. and Target Corp.

“We are confident that Mike’s deep expertise and proven leadership in supply chain operations will help support Lowe’s omni-channel strategy by meeting customers on their terms, and position the company for continued growth,” Kirby said in the statement.
