It’s unclear if she will continue to write for the long running hit show or if this was a one-time return according to the New York Daily News.

The sketch writer was blasted on social media back in January when she tweeted about 11-year-old Barron becoming “the country’s first homeschool shooter”.

The message was left up for about three hours before Rich deleted it.

Facing a firestorm of criticism, she was forced to make her Twitter account private, blocking public viewing of it.

A few days later, the Chicago native, who has written for SNL since 2013, wrote an apology for Trump.

“I sincerely apologise for the insensitive tweet. I deeply regret my actions and offensive words. It was inexcusable and I’m so sorry,” she said via Twitter.

President Trump also condemned the tweet a few days later in an interview with the Fox News show Hannity.

“It’s a disgrace,” he said during the interview. “He’s a great boy, and it’s not an easy thing for him. Believe me.”
