Atlanta Press Club hosts debate Thursday in crowded mayor’s race

Mayoral candidates in the crowded Atlanta race debated at the Press Club Thursday morning.

Eleven candidates for mayor of Atlanta discussed the ongoing bribery scandal and affordable housing in a Thursday debate that was their highest-profile outing to date.

The Atlanta Press Club hosted the debate, which is available to watch on Facebook Live.

It will be broadcast on the radio, on 90.1, at 8 p.m. Thursday. And it will air on PBA30 at 10 a.m. Sunday.

In an exclusive Channel 2 Action News/Atlanta Journal-Constitution/Landmark Communications poll, the numbers show a heated race.

Issues of ethics and the ongoing investigation into Atlanta’s procurement process dominated the conversation, as did questions of income inequality and affordability in the city.

The participating candidates were: Peter Aman, Rohit Ammanamanchi, Keisha Lance Bottoms, John Eaves, Vincent Fort, Kwanza Hall, Ceasar Mitchell, Mary Norwood, Michael Sterling, Cathy Woolard and Glenn Wrightson.

The election is Nov. 7. Early voting begins next week.
