The project marries user-submitted video with a 2013 poem by slam poet, Holly Painter.

It's based on a poem written several years ago. But for Holly Painter, the words still resonate today.

The award-winning slam poet wrote 'My City' in 2013 as a tribute to her hometown of London.

It's also the basis of a new collaboration of the same name between Painter and videographer James Shelley - a project that the two hope catches the attention of Londoners.

"We're asking people from the London community to take 10-15 second video clips that capture the city as they see it," said Shelley, in an interview with CBC Radio's Afternoon Drive.

The pair have already received nearly seven gigabytes of footage from Londoners . Once completed, the video will be mixed with an audio recording of Painter reading the poem, and shown to the public as part of London's upcoming Culture Days.

"It's a poem about community, created by community, and it will debut at a community event," said Painter.

"It's really coming together in a very cool way."
