2 injured, 3 wanted in Opelika armed robbery shooting

Two people were injured after two of the suspects started shooting during the robbery, police said.

Opelika police are attempting to identify suspects who injured two people during an armed robbery at a gas station on early Monday morning.

Officers said three black males pulled up into the 280 Marathon at 1100 Columbus Parkway around 2:50 a.m in a dark colored, four-door vehicle. Police said two men armed with guns got out of the vehicle and entered the gas station. One of the suspects was last seen wearing a baseball cap with a logo and a dark-colored hoodie. The other man was wearing a blue hoodie, white T-shirt, dark pants and white shoes.

The suspects demanded money from the victims before they started shooting, authorities said. They then got back in the car driven by the third suspect and left the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. Their direction of travel is unknown.

Officers arrived on the scene and started giving first aid to the victims until medics arrived. One of the victims received life-threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia. That victim is now in stable condition, police said. The second victim was taken to East Alabama Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities have released pictures of the suspects and the suspects' vehicle, which has a sunroof and a spoiler on the rear.
