3 sought in armed invasion at South Jersey apartment

The trio broke into a unit at the Cologne Gardens Apartments early in the morning, police said.

HAMILTON TWP. -- Police are still seeking the armed intruders who broke into an apartment, assaulted an occupantand stole items, authorities say.

Three males forced their way through a rear door in unit at the Cologne Garden Apartments on South Cologne Avenue between 2 and 2:30 a.m. Friday, Hamilton Township Police say.

Once inside, the three assaulted the resident and ransacked the apartment taking items, authorities said. 

At least two of the intruders were reported to be armed with handguns.

There was no information on which way the three fled or whether it was in an auto or by foot.

Police said the resident described the intruders as black males. One was tall with a muscular building wearing all black clothing including hoodie and ski mask. The second was short with a medium build earing all black clothing including a black hoodie and wool ski cap with his face covered from the nose down. The third suspect was described as simply wearing all black.

The apartment's occupant did not require medical attention for their injuries, police said.
