A Baton Rouge man was arrested in a shooting that left one person injured on Monday, according to an arrest report.

Javon Aron, 18, is accused of shooting a man several times, striking him twice in the foot, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office says in a probable cause report.

The victim, who received treatment for the injuries at an area hospital, told investigators he went to visit a home about 11:30 a.m. Monday on Rue De Belle Maison. When he got out of his vehicle, Aron, brandishing a handgun, approached the man and threatened to kill him over a debt for a previous drug transaction, the report says.

As the man tried to flee, Aron shot him several times, the report says, adding that when the victim pleaded for his life, Aron fled.

Aron was arrested near the scene and told deputies the victim had been armed with a knife. Detectives did not find a knife at the scene, according to the report.

Aron, of 4332 Rue De Belle Maison, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count each of attempted first-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
