Each week, the Detroit Free Press/Chemical Bank Marathon chooses a runner to spotlight. Whether you’re training for a full marathon, going out on the weekend for a long run or getting back into the swing of running, the race loves to showcase its runners.

The marathon is proud to partner with the following sponsors to offer a "Run, Recover, Reward" prize pack to each winner. Nite Beams, a Kalamazoo company specializing in LED products to keep runners safe during their runs, will be giving away $100 worth of gear. The Stick, a self-massage tool helping runners recover since 1988, will be sending each winner a Sprinter Stick. And SportHooks, the original race medal display and medal hanger, will be giving each winner a custom medal hanger to show off his or her accomplishments.

Name: Jessica Landelius

Hometown: Howell

Age: 32

Her running story: I have Meniere's Disease, which causes vertigo, nausea, and hearing loss.  I spent a lot of time down and being inactive.  I decided one day that I was in charge of my body, not Meniere's Disease.  I started running short distances, and built up my endurance.  I got a great idea that I wanted to run a marathon, and prove that I could do it.  My very first marathon was the Detroit Free Press Marathon in 2014.  I finished that race and it ignited something in me that has kept me going every since.  I am now running my 5th marathon this year, and I have never felt better in my entire life.  Running saved me in more ways than I can describe.
