What to watch

1. We meet again. The Orioles and Angels see each other for the second time in as many weeks. In Anaheim, Calif., the Angels won the last two games between the two to start a run of six straight wins and seven in eight games. That pushed them into control of the second wild-card spot, while the Orioles’ 4-6 West Coast trip dropped them to three games back. This is a key weekend with the Orioles having a chance to draw even with the Angels and get back toward the top of the cluttered wild-card standings.

2. Rebound required. After two straight quality starts to begin his tenure with the Orioles, Jeremy Hellickson allowed six runs in five innings in his last start. Perhaps the home atmosphere will help, as he pitched seven scoreless innings in his only other Orioles start at Camden Yards. He’ll also be facing an Angels offense that ranks among the worst in baseball.

3. Beckham at his best. It’s starting to get ridiculous. Shortstop Tim Beckham comes home as one of the best players in baseball this month, batting .485/.507/.879 in 16 games since joining the Orioles. He has the best average in the majors this month and the fourth-highest OPS. He has added seven doubles, two triples, five homers and 12 RBIs, and has been held without a hit just once as an Oriole. He’ll be looking to pick right up against Andrew Heaney, who returns from Tommy John elbow reconstruction for his first major league start since April 2016. Heaney had a 3.49 ERA in 18 starts in 2015.
